Tribute from Ewaen

Nothing prepares one for the intense feeling of grief, sadness and shock when you lose a loved one. One who was truly treasured by many. Mama Nosa, my mother, my friend, our umbrella. You stepped down so that my siblings and I could step up. You always wanted the best for your children and covered up a lot for us. Distance was no barrier to your love for my family and I in Birmingham because you greatly supported us, gave food stuff to anyone who was coming to the UK. You always said that “if it can get to UK, it can get to Birmingham”. Your grandchildren (Gregory, Casey and Jasmine) miss you so much and thank you for being the best grandmother ever!

Mama, your death is so surreal, and the accompanied feeling of emptiness is inexplicable. I am still hoping that maybe it is just a dream. Maybe, you will still call me every evening like you used to, just maybe.

While I am waiting to wake up from this extremely sad dream, I will always remember your good works towards everyone, especially to us, your children. Your works are still speaking for you even after death. Your legacy of caring and offering support to anyone regardless of biological, tribal or religious affiliation is undeniable to all. Mama, you were indeed a beam of lights to your generation and generations unborn.

Unquestionably, you were one in a million, so rare to find, true to cause, unassuming, thoughtful and ever so compassionate. Oh mama, what words could encapsulate the great icon that God gifted to me as a mother? Your short, yet impactful life was a blessing and I truly cherish the fact that I call you mom.

Mama, you did well.

You came, you fought and conquered.

Death, where is thy sting?

Love and miss you so much, Iye Ewaen.

Tribute from THE ESANGBEDOS

In our daily needs, we feel your presence. For in our hearts you live on. Your smile, your laughter,  your big heart will always comfort us.

You were the world our lives revolve around. With quiet courage, you labour each day to nurture your family tree.

The Iroko has fallen, but her deed lives on.

You have been there to celebrate with us in our victories, supported and encouraged us in times of adversity.

Dear mama, though your footprint lingers on, we miss your physical presence.
Your matter of fact jokes.
Your kind nature.
Your happy mood and your delightful dance steps.

Thank you mama for leaving the most beautiful memories locked in our hearts.

Though our hearts are still heavy with sadness, our hearts still look for you.

We find peace in the legacy of love you left behind.

Dear mama, though you left too early, you added value to the lives of many people.

With your frequent good deeds, you triumphed over the limitation of a short life.

GOOD NIGHT MAMA.
YOUR LOVE AND GUIDANCE WILL REMAIN ENGRAVED IN OUR HEART ❤ 💙 💜

Tribute from Jasmine Evbu Esangbedo.

don’t even know what to say about grandma, such a larger than life woman who always puts a smile on my face. Such a kind and graceful woman. She was truly perfect and selfless in every way. From her children to those who hardly knew her, no one has anything bad to say about her.

I look outside at all the people who are just going about their days, and I realised that time doesn’t stop for anybody. I realised that they don’t know who died. They are just walking around oblivious to the beautiful zealous woman who is no longer with us. But for those who knew her, I know that they were truly touched to have met grandma.

I remember when we used to go on walks together. We would walk down to the lake by the house and just watch it. It was beautiful.

I would give anything to walk with her again.
To see her again.
To say I love you again.
I can only hope she knew how much I loved her, and I miss her every day.
